Details

This Government Project Delivery policy note sets out the arrangements for appointing Senior Responsible Owners (SROs) across government. It clarifies the distinctions between SRO types, defines core accountability and appointment transparency requirements, and describes the responsibilities of departments and the Centre in appointing, accrediting and supporting SROs.

The policy note introduces a clearer tiering of SRO roles across three levels of project delivery:

  • Government Major Projects Portfolio SROs (including government mega projects)
  • Departmental Major Projects (DMP) SROs
  • Other Major Projects Portfolio (OMP) SROs

Each tier carries different appointment processes, accreditation expectations and accountability arrangements. The role of the SRO itself is unchanged.
