This is a new service and pages are being tested and improved.

One of the most rewarding parts of my role is building teams that make a real difference to how government delivers for the public.

And today, I’m excited to share that we’re recruiting a Delivery Manager and Service Designer on Civil Service Jobs to lead and evolve projectdelivery.gov.uk – our award-winning platform at the centre of Government Project Delivery.

Over the past few years, I’ve watched this platform grow from a good idea into something genuinely transformative. It’s become an essential home for project delivery professionals across government, bringing together standards, tools, learning, and best practice in one place. The recognition it’s received, including a Web Excellence Award, a Digital Impact Award and HM Treasury’s Innovation of the Year, is a sign of how far we’ve come but also how much potential there still is.

This new role will be central to that next chapter.

Why this role matters

Government Project Delivery is a massive ecosystem with more than 26,000 civil servants working across some of the most complex projects anywhere in the world, from infrastructure to digital transformation.

What makes the profession work is connection: shared capability, shared standards, and shared understanding. Projectdelivery.gov.uk has become one of the core ways we do that. It gives people a place to learn, to find guidance, to build community, and to improve how we deliver across government faster, more confidently, and more consistently.

So this isn’t just a technical or operational role. It’s a genuine opportunity to influence how government delivery works, at scale.

What you’ll lead

This is one of the most multifaceted, impactful Grade 7 roles we have in the team. You’ll be responsible for the delivery, design, and smooth running of projectdelivery.gov.uk, and that means you’ll influence almost every part of how the function and profession supports the people delivering programmes and projects across government.

You’ll:

  • lead the end-to-end delivery of the platform, shaping its future strategy and ensuring it meets user needs
  • manage multidisciplinary teams and suppliers using agile ways of working
  • champion user centred design across a service used widely across government
  • support teams across departments to use the platform effectively
  • oversee content operations, suppliers, governance, risk, budgets, and performance

This mix of service ownership, delivery leadership, and hands on design makes it a rare opportunity. If you love blending strategy with doing, and working closely with both digital teams and policy or delivery professionals, you’ll thrive here.

Where you’ll fit in the wider mission

You’ll join us in NISTA, the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority, which hosts the central Government Project Delivery team. Our job is to set the strategy, standards and best practice for how government oversees and delivers portfolios, programmes and projects.

Within that, you’ll be part of a small, brilliant, multidisciplinary team that looks after some of the most visible and high impact products in the profession – from projectdelivery.gov.uk to The Teal Book. We’re collaborative, curious, user focused, and we care about delivering things that genuinely help the people doing the work.

I am incredibly proud of this team. And I’m looking for someone who will bring energy, expertise, and a strong sense of purpose to help us shape what comes next.

Why you might love this role

If you’re someone who:

  • gets excited by complex, cross government problems
  • enjoys working with a variety of disciplines
  • cares about high quality public services
  • believes in user centred design
  • and wants to make a visible, lasting impact

…then you’ll find this role both challenging and deeply rewarding.

It’s also a chance to build something that outlasts you – a platform and a service that thousands of professionals rely on, supporting billions of pounds of government investment.

There are very few roles where the impact is this broad and this meaningful.

If this speaks to you, please apply

I genuinely believe this is one of the most exciting digital and service design roles in government right now. You’ll have the chance to shape a platform, a function and a profession at a pivotal moment – not just improving a website and the services it provides but influencing how government delivers on its biggest priorities.

If that inspires you, I hope you’ll consider joining us. I’d love to see your application.
