Beta

This is a new service and pages are being tested and improved.

Overview

This pattern tells users the result of submitting a form and what happens next.

When to use this pattern

Use this pattern at the end of every service or form hosted on projectdelivery.gov.uk.

There are 3 possible results when a form is submitted:

  • service complete
  • something went wrong
  • form submitted but transaction incomplete

Service completed

If a user has successfully submitted a form and completed their transaction with no other steps required, use a panel confirming the submission followed by information on what happens next.

Example

Transaction completed

Check your email for confirmation.

What happens next
The team will contact you soon. If you have any questions, email [email protected].

Something went wrong

If a form submission is unsuccessful, tell the user why using a plain text heading and paragraph text. Explain what they might be able to do next.

Use inset text to highlight the reason for the unsuccessful result so it can be easily understood at a glance.

Form submitted but transaction incomplete

If the form is submitted successfully but the transaction or service hasn’t been completed, use a success notification banner.

Outline the next steps for the user within the success banner. This might include confirming their email address by selecting a link or waiting for someone to process their request.
