Pre-order a printed copy of The Teal Book for a limited time

The Teal Book, the definitive guide for project delivery in government, is available to pre-order in print for the first time.

The Teal Book is a digital-first product, designed to be continuously updated based on user feedback. That feedback indicated that a physical copy to complement the online version would be helpful.

This print run will help determine whether to offer printed editions on an ongoing basis.

You can pre-order The Teal Book as part of this limited pilot until 20 April 2026 for £40, plus postage. TSO (The Stationery Office) will dispatch copies by the end of May.

What you get in the printed edition

If you pre-order, you will receive version 3.0, the next major update, which includes all changes since last year’s public launch.

Version 3.0 includes:

• feedback received since launch
• updated guidance from Green Book revisions
• the new programme and project data standard
• updated advice on managing benefits, based on feedback from the benefits management in government collection under consultation

When the book goes to print, a single downloadable PDF will also be available from The Teal Book pages for free to match the printed version.

Signed-in members of projectdelivery.gov.uk can influence The Teal Book at any time through the line-by-line feedback tool on each chapter. All changes are continuously considered, and the digital version is regularly updated.

With its consistent approach, shared language and step-by-step guidance, this practical product helps teams to plan, sponsor, fund, assure and deliver change more effectively. It supports the Government Functional Standard for Project Delivery and provides practical guidance for SROs, portfolio directors and project professionals.

The Teal Book was developed through consultation with more than 250 stakeholders, with 1,500 pieces of feedback shaping the first public version. This user-led approach led to The Teal Book winning HM Treasury’s Innovation of the Year award in 2025.

Anyone can pre-order The Teal Book from TSO before 20 April 2026, including government employees, industry professionals, organisations and members of the public.
