It’s hard to believe it’s already been two weeks since we launched The Teal Book. As the editor and lead author, seeing this guidance go live on the Government Project Delivery website was a significant milestone, the culmination of considerable effort from many dedicated individuals. The anticipation leading up to publication was palpable, and the response since has been truly rewarding to witness.

From the outset, our goal was to provide clear, practical guidance to enhance project delivery capability across government and the public sector. Watching the launch land, it’s been incredibly encouraging to see the positive reception and engagement The Teal Book has received.

One of the most gratifying aspects of these past two weeks has been observing the rich discussion it has sparked. We’ve seen conversations unfolding not just within UK public sector, but also reaching international audiences. Seeing professionals engage with the content, share insights (including across platforms like LinkedIn), and discuss its application within their own contexts is exactly what we hoped for. This dialogue is invaluable – it brings the guidance to life and highlights the shared challenges and opportunities in project delivery globally.

Building on this initial momentum, we are currently finalising a communications campaign which will launch shortly. The primary goal is naturally to drive adoption of The Teal Book across government, embedding it within our ways of working. However, the campaign’s scope is broader. We are keen to actively engage with partners across government, industry, and academia, using The Teal Book as a common frame of reference. Through this engagement, we aim to foster a collaborative environment for sharing best practices, identifying shared solutions to the complex challenges we all face, and uncovering opportunities to make our work as project delivery professionals more productive and efficient.

We are actively listening to the feedback and discussion already generated. The Teal Book was always intended to be an evolving resource, not a static document. Publishing it as a freely available online publication was a conscious decision to enable exactly that. This digital format allows us to make updates quickly and easily, ensuring the guidance remains current and relevant. It also opens up exciting possibilities for future integration with other tools, services, and publications across the website, creating a more connected ecosystem of support for project professionals. Your feedback is crucial to this iterative process, and we are collating everything received so far to directly inform future updates.

We have also heard the feedback regarding formats. While the online version provides distinct advantages for maintenance and integration, we understand that some users have expressed a need for alternative ways to access the content. We are currently considering this feedback carefully and exploring whether there is a viable case to meet this need alongside the primary digital version.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to explore The Teal Book, share their thoughts, and contribute to the ongoing conversation. We are excited about the journey ahead, including the upcoming engagement campaign, and remain committed to ensuring The Teal Book serves as a valuable and practical resource for the entire project delivery community.
